Backend Developer

We are an international digital studio that transforms ideas into incredible products. We are part of Tiny, a Canadian investment fund behind industry giants such as Dribbble or Metalab. We work with North American startups helping them create and launch disruptive products to the market.

Z1 is not a design agency with several engineers, nor a development consultant with a handful of designers. We are a team of more than 70 designers, engineers and communication professionals that approach each project holistically.

We always work as a team, both remotely (we have colleagues in New York, San Francisco, Vancouver, etc.) and in person at our main headquarters located in the center of Seville, a 700m2 space where you will feel at home.

A Backend Developer —any level of experience is welcome— with a strong passion for development and willingness to learn.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Collaborating actively within a multidisciplinary engineering team that includes professionals from different technologies, bringing your skills to the backend with Django and making an impact on everything we crash!
• Take a proactive role in the development plan, taking care and responsibility of schedule, communications, risk, and deliverables.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including product managers, digital designers, and engineers, along with our clients, to innovate and develop new design and interaction concepts.
• Take initiative to research, troubleshoot and resolve bugs and issues as they arise.
• Contribute to our knowledge base by documenting best practices and insights for back-end development using Django.
• Support other team members through code reviews and continuous feedback.
• Demonstrate flexibility and a positive attitude as an integral team player, adaptable to the varied demands of multiple projects.

Besides showing us your previous work, you’ll need:

• Spanish as your native language.
• Experience in building modern, elegant APIs using Django/Python.
• Hands-on expertise with Docker, Postgres, Redis, and Celery.
• Familiarity with writing and executing tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
• Tooling: Proficient in version control tools (e.g., Git), continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) workflows, and containerization platforms like Docker.
• Passionate about code quality and best practices.
• Ability to work both self-directed and collaboratively to deliver results in a fast paced, startup environment.
• Consummate team player, able to wear multiple hats, and assist team members when needed.
• Intermediate level of English, written and spoken.

It’s a great plus if you also have experience:

• Experience with Node.js: Express or other backend technologies.
• Experience with AWS or infrastructure management.
• Integrate and use within third-party APIs.
• GraphQL with Strawberry library.
• In-depth understanding of web development and mobile development.
• Understanding of RESTful services and service-oriented architecture.
• Fluent communication skills in English.
